Good Sleep, Good Health in Maryland

Good Sleep, Good Health in Maryland Hey There

A few months ago, I read an interesting insomnia finding. Mc Lean sleep researchers observed that sleep-deprived test subjects in a recent clinical trial got used to feeling tired. At first, study participants noticed that sleep deprivation affected their energy, cognitive abilities and mental health. However, after a few days of not sleeping, their tired state began to feel normal for them.

I suffer from insomnia and live in Kensington. My name is Marsha Hill. I have spent a lot of time studying sleep, well actually, lack of sleep. After reading about the study mentioned previously, I realized that my “tired” state had become my new “normal”. I talked to several of my Mc Lean friends and co-workers. I discovered that many of those that reported having trouble sleeping did not make a connection between their insomnia and various health issues.

For example, one Spencerville insomniac who is an elementary school teacher told me that she often had trouble concentrating while talking to her students. A Suburb Maryland Fac man who works in my office catches every sickness going around and it seems to take him an unusually long time to get better.

Actually, many health problems can be caused by lack of sleep. Prolonged insomnia should never be ignored.

If you can’t sleep, I recommend 7Hour Slumber. 7Hour Slumber has helped me tremendously. As my sleep has improved, my health has improved also. You can learn more about 7Hour Slumber at http://bestsleepaids.net.

Don’t let ‘tired’ become ‘normal’. Use 7Hour Slumber for good sleep and good health

A Suburb Maryland Fac Bedtime Story

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

A Suburb Maryland Fac Bedtime Story Once upon a time there was a Magnolia car-drivin’ entrepreneur named Marsha Hill (that’s me) who lived in Kensington, MD. Marsha’s father has had heart problems since he was relatively young and isn’t an example of heart-healthy eating. Marsha’s mother, who lives in Mc Lean, suffers from emphysema due to smoking. Marsha plans to be around to spoil grandchildren in twenty years, so is trying hard to break the chain of parents’ poor examples when it comes to health.

Marsha eats a healthy diet, sweats regularly at a gym in Spencerville and can often be found doing the downward dog at a Glen Echo yoga studio. Marsha has a strong immune system and, fortunately, hardly ever gets sick. (Don’t discount the obsessive hand-washing.) And in case you were wondering, Marsha doesn’t touch cigarettes.

This all sounds good so far, right? Here is the problem. In spite of diligence, Marsha often feels less-than-normal. Why? Insomnia. Not occasional sleeplessness, Marsha goes weeks with wide awake sleep time. Our poor insomniac has watched all the old movies that play on TCM–several times each!

If you suffer from insomnia, you know that it doesn’t matter if you have a heart rate of 20, a bloodstream free of cholesterol and can run a four-minute mile–you still feel lousy!

A friend in Suburb Maryland Fac challenged me to compare some good sleep aids to find one that works for me. I start tonight with Melotrex. I did some extensive research and found only positive feedback about this all natural sleep remedy. I will use it for a week and then try 7Hour Slumber to see which one is the most effective for chronic sleeplessness. Check back soon for the end of the story.

I hope to live (and sleep) happily ever after.

Sleepless Nights in Kensington?

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Sleepless Nights in Kensington? Welcome to Marsha’s Mc Lean sleep blog. Maybe it can provide some light reading for your sleepless nights if you are troubled by sleep problems. I am pretty tired (no pun intended) of not getting enough sleep. I plan to try some new Kensington sleep aids to see if they really work. I will give you updates here on my blog.

This week, I will use 7Hour Slumber and see what happens. I ordered 7Hour Slumber on http://bestsleepaids.net. I didn’t even need to leave my Kensington house to pick it up at a Mc Lean drugstore. 7Hour Slumber is relatively new but has been receiving some favorable reviews from long-time Spencerville insomniacs and Spencerville holistic health professionals.

In addition to reporting on my Kensington sleep aid results, I also plan to include some interesting facts about sleep in my Mc Lean insomnia blog. For example, did you know that people who regularly sleep less than five hours at night have roughly a 40 percent higher rate of heart problems (including heart attacks) than people who are able to consistently get eight hours of sleep? I have a few other risk factors for heart disease, so my chronic insomnia is even more troubling.

Here is another interesting but non-worrisome sleep factoid from the animal kingdom: Dolphins sleep while swimming using one half of their brain at a time.

I wish one half of my brain could man the controls while the other half curls up on the couch. Come to think about it, it is possible that only half of my brain is currently working. Perhaps 7Hour Slumber will help get the other half in gear.

Check back soon.

Marsha’s Kensington Sleep Diary

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Marsha's Kensington Sleep Diary If you suffer from sleep issues like many folks in Mc Lean, you may want to start a sleep diary. You can keep track of when you climb into bed, when you actually fall asleep, how many times you wake up during the night and when you arise in the morning. In addition, you can record other factors that may be related such as medications, stressful events, number of cups of coffee, exercise, etc.

Then you can compare these factors. Analyzing any connections may help you better understand your insomnia.

By keeping a sleep diary for a month, I was able to isolate several factors that triggered a sleepless night in my Kensington bedroom. Some of those factors, such as caffeine consumption, are controllable. Other factors, such as the occasional loud barking of my Kensington neighbor’s dog are beyond my control. When I am awakened by barking or other unexpected loud noises, I take Melotrex. I can get back to sleep fast and the whole night is not ruined.

I am Marsha Hill. I have used most sleep aids available in Mc Lean, both prescription and over-the-counter. Melotrex is my favorite OTC insomnia treatment.

By keeping a sleep diary you may discover how to alter your busy Kensington lifestyle to help you get more sleep. For the nights you can’t sleep despite your best efforts, try Melotrex. I know it has helped many Kensington sleep apnea patients, also.

Here’s wishing you restful sleep tonight.

Sleep Deprived in Mc Lean?

Sleep Deprived in Mc Lean? Hey There

Sleep deprivation is not only irritating, it can be down-right dangerous. According to the National Sleep Research Project:
INDENT:

The 1989 Exxon Valdex oil spill, the Challenger space shuttle disaster and the Chernobyl nuclear accident have all been attributed to human errors in which sleep-deprivation played a role.

I’m not an oil tanker captain, astronaut or nuclear power plant worker, but I am a sleepy Kensington parent and small business owner–and I think these jobs are just as important. I don’t want insomnia to cause me to make mistakes at my Kensington home, Glen Echo office or driving my kids to their Kensington school.

I have been using Melotrex and Sleep2Night. (See http://bestsleepaids.net for more information.) Melotrex helps me fall asleep faster and sleep deeper. To me, a couple of hours of deep sleep is worth more than six hours of light, restless sleep.

Sleep2Night works naturally to synchronize your body’s circadian rhythms. It helps you fall asleep fast because it gets into your bloodstream quickly, unlike some Mc Lean sleep aids that take hours to work.

I don’t know what knocked my natural sleep cycle out of whack. Maybe it was cramming (partying?) all night during my University of Maryland college days. It could have been the two years I worked graveyard shifts at my first Suburb Maryland Fac job. Perhaps it was those groggy months when the children were needing assistance through the night. Whatever it was that got me into this frustrating pattern of insomnia, I am determined to get out of it. Melotrex and Sleep2Night are going to help me.

They can help you too.
-Marsha
